The Power of Vision Boards

With a new year starting, people enthusiastically set their new year’s resolutions to achieve their goals and become a better person. People might be saving money for the trip they always wanted to go on, or may be looking to get a raise or find their dream job. The different types of goals people set for themselves are infinite, but unfortunately, it doesn’t take long for people to forget about them. According to Forbes, approximately 25% of the people keep their commitment to their resolutions after 30 days, and by the end of the year, only 8% accomplish them. This is why vision boards come in handy.

In fact, vision boards have been used by many famous people and have helped them achieve their goals. Vision boards have helped many entrepreneurs establish their own businesses and it has helped many people in the entertainment realm such as Oprah Winfrey, Ellen Degeneres, Beyonce, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jim Carrey.

One of the main reasons why people forget about their resolutions is because they don’t have a clear vision of what accomplishing them would look like. Vision boards help you keep your goals and dreams in the back of your mind all the time. They allow you to have a clear vision of where you want to go, or what you want to accomplish, and they help you believe it is possible. Keeping your goals in your subconscious mind will help you make decisions that will only get you closer to achieving them.

“Your brain will work tirelessly to achieve the statements you give your subconscious mind. And when those statements are the affirmations and images of your goals, you are destined to achieve them,” says vision board proponent Jack Canfield.

If you like crafts you can make your vision boards using magazine scraps, scrapbook paper, or anything that comes to your mind. However, if you feel that you need a little help with design there are many apps that will help you create a virtual board such as My Vision Board—Visualize your dreams or My Vision Board—Manifest Dreams by Visualization.

What should you include in your vision board?

Your vision board should be as clear as possible, involving every detail of the things you want to accomplish. You shouldn’t however, over clutter your board which will make it useless. For instance, if you want a car, include a picture of the car model and colour that you want, this is what including the details refers to. If you feel that your vision board will be too cluttered, you might consider creating two or more different visual boards.

Include pictures in your board that represent your goals, words that will motivate you and positive self-affirmations that will keep you strong.

The vision board and the law of attraction

The vision board represents feelings, experiences, dreams, and emotions that you want to attract. The law of attraction helps materialize the dreams and ideas that people have in their minds. It stands by the idea that positive thoughts bring good things to your life and negative thoughts will bring negative things to your life. Therefore, having a constant reminder of the good things you want to achieve and working hard for them will ultimately make them a reality.
