7 Books You Should Read to Achieve Your Goals

By Omerah Laraba Sanni

Goals, goals, goals. We all have different goals we want to reach. To get a job, to build a house, to find a spouse, to get 3 signed business contracts; these are all goals for different people and they can all become reality before the eyes of the goal-setters.

Fine, maybe you are tired of reading every advice you see about goal-setting and achieving goals but this is perhaps the last goal-setting advice you need.

Books have a great way of teaching us things we never knew, giving you the opportunity to learn new concepts, grasp new ideas and redefine purpose if you have to.

Beyond having a say when you are in the midst of avid readers, books are a great way to channel your future in the right path.

In working out goals, here are some books /materials that have helped me over time

Brian Tracy, GOALS – This book teaches about goal-setting and guides to achieve milestones.

Stephen Covey, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People teaches habits and principles that can be applied at both personal and professional levels of development. All of which can result to great achievements.

John Maxwell, Beyond Talent – Yes, we are all naturally gifted to do one or multiple things, but the demands of the world today require more than your talent and this book highlights key things anyone requires to adequately explore his/her talent to become successful.

Ben Carson, The Big Picturefor me, this book helped broaden my mind, taught me to think outside the box and stretch myself beyond my comfort zone.

Keith Harrell, Attitude is Everything – I can say with all confidence that this book helped me see myself in a different light. I used to be very pessimistic and critical about life and about my self-image. The things I have learned reading this book helped me boost my self-esteem.

John Maxwell, Go for Gold Gave me a broader  understanding of   Leadership, Responsibility and the importance of   empowering others with the knowledge I acquire.

Robert Kiyosaki, Rich Dad, Poor Dad – Helped me to understand the mindset of the Rich and Poor. In this book you will also see practical steps to building lasting wealth.

CDs, Mini-series and books from Fela Durotoye – Fela Durotoye, known for his foremost thoughts on different aspects of life, has a pile of audios and books to question today’s status-quo. His works no doubt are mind blowing; some of his books like LeverageTransformational leader, Commanding value at your workplace – and so many more that I can’t remember now – gives us more reasons to hope in Nigeria again.

I started feeling responsible for my immediate environment and found the motivation to make positive impact in all that I do; more importantly, to leave a legacy for others to follow.

There are so many other penned thoughts out there that touch on different aspects of our lives and they are mostly affordable.

Even if you find it difficult to read books, take it one at a time because readers are leaders. The importance of this cannot be overemphasized because you have to make it a necessary habit if you want to take that quantum leap into success. Thanks to technology, some of these books are available in audio version.
